London Design Week ... Rocks

London Design Week & The Contemporary Textile Fair

The 15th - 20th March sees some of the best designers, architects and interior journalists coming together for two major design events in Chelsea.

London Design Week kicks off the week at The Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour from the 15th - 18th March (trade preview 13-15th March). Discover the latest design trends and engage with global names in luxury interiors who will be showcasing their style, new product launches and impressive installations. There are also a host of influential speakers lined up every day who are ready to share their expertise.

At the end of the week, is the Contemporary Textile Fair on the 18-20 March, held at the Landmark Arts Centre. Here, more than 75 designers will be exhibiting a diverse range of wearable & hangable art from recycled and reclaimed fabrics remodelled into fashion accessories.

With a beautiful studio, just a stones throw away from both venues, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the Kings Road, Porcupine Rocks would love you to continue your design-fest by popping in and having a look at our products. We are currently loving our new fabric lines, scatter cushions and baskets.

Scatter Cushions at Porcupine Rocks

Porcupine Rocks works closely with a core group of award winning designers based in South Africa. Each designer brings something different, unique and fresh, not only with their individual designs but also with their story.

Our distinct cloths are wonderful to work with and if you are looking for something different, we can most definitely guarantee that as we are the sole supplier of this collection in the UK. As well as buying our fabric by the meter, our skilled team of furniture designers, upholsterers and curtain makers can create anything from blinds to bedheads, ottomans to cushions, sofas to curtains, meaning your clientʼs can be safe in the knowledge that they will have a unique piece of home furnishing.

If you are looking to add a splash of colour to tie your clientʼs room together, take a look at our fun and striking scatter cushions by Cape Town fabric house Shine Shine.

There is a strong tradition of using fabrics and textiles to tell stories, commemorate important events or even communicate everyday messages in Africa. Inspired by this long tradition of political, religious and commemorative cloths, Shine Shine fabrics are a busy, bold, and contemporary take on this tradition. Each Shine Shine cushion measures 60x60cm, with the image on both the front and the back and a zip closure. Sold with 100% duck feather cushion pad for extra plumpness. As well as stocking Shine Shine cushions, we also have a wide range of other unique designs and sizes.

And finally, our beautiful crochet Moon Baskets are a versatile addition to any room. Made from hemp cord and dipped in resin to keep their shape, they are a feather weight yet firm decorative basket. The crafters who make the baskets are women from the Khayalitsha township in South Africa, meaning that every time you purchase a Moonbasket, you are helping support the less privileged inhabitants of Cape Town.
