Tea Towel - Toile du Jozi

Tea Towel - Toile du Jozi

Printed tea towel with toile du jozi design

Porcupine Rocks has a collection of fabulous tea towels made from 100% cotton designed by South African textile house FabricNation.

Inspired by the African textile tradition, rendered in a modern urban context with its blending of diverse sources and influences to create the fabric of a nation.

The Toile du Jozi design tells the story of an African city rendered in the faded style of a Toile du Jouy fabric but instead of depicting typically French rural scenes it shows Johannesburg (Jozi) street scenes. Urban meets rural, formal meets informal, tradition meets modernity.

Dimensions: 67cm x 43cm

100% Cotton.

FabricNation - textiles with a narrative

South African based design duo Jann Cheritz and Jane Soloman are inspired by the African textile tradition, brought to life in a modern urban context with its blending of diverse sources and influences to create the ‘fabric of a nation’.

FabricNation supports a ‘homegrown’ philosophy where all fabrics are printed in South Africa and, as far as possible, 100% cotton base cloth is sourced locally. The designs are screen printed by hand or by using a rotary printing technique with a very old machine dating back to the late 1800’s.

The fabrics are also available by the meter.  If you are interested please contact us
